Woman Devalued

About a week ago, I was riding in the subway with my little boy. Of course, he didn’t have a clue what was going on, but that’s besides the point. I’m telling a story.
Between the Junction and Utica, two young ladies–that’s what I’ll refer to them as being that that’s what I thought at the time–sat across from me in the window seats, facing the resting East Indian young man. At least, that’s the race that I ultimately pegged him as. Next thing you know, I see a tiny white ball hit this guy. Mind you, he’s minding his business, resting his eyes, oblivious to these girls’ actions.
At first, I look up, thinking it must’ve been something that fell from his person. I was oblivious, too, wondering why they were joining one another in secret laughter. Maybe they saw where it came from and found it amusing. Silly little chicks, barely out of junior high, if you ask me. Read the rest of this entry »
Inspiring Community Conversation: Part II
Posted by cielblog | Filed under Biblical Scripture of the Month
A lady elder spoke about “the lost generation” and what’s being done about saving our children. She wasn’t too polite, but understandably angry and disturbed on the matter. She told the religious figures to “get out of the pulpit” and save our babies. The same went for the politicians, and yes, she was also talking about Governor Patterson.
His responses to these questions were a bit, just a bit politically-driven, but offered a lot of clarity. He mentioned the history and direction of correction on most of the concerns in the sanctuary, which gave me the newfound initiative to do something and/or start somewhere.
Inspiring Community Conversation: Part I

To all those who were in attendance at First A.M.E.’s town hall meeting last night definitely gives the impression that you give a damn about your community!
I was certainly inspired by the passion of the people and the genuine concerns personally addressed by the governor himself. However, showing up is half the battle.
Although, there were a couple things that made me scratch my head. The first is when Governor Patterson spoke about funding that they ‘found’. On my time, I’d have to look into that because when you find something, that means it was there unbeknownst to you. Hmm.
ATTN: Aspiring Indie Designers

Well hello, ladies, and how are we? Hope all is well.
I’m fresh off of major online research for sponsorship and media kit tools. I’m a little tired (especially my back). You know we mothers don’t get to just sit in front of the computer all day, LOL. It’s cool, though. I got some work done.
Now, I’m onto the search for participating indie designers for my fashion show, in which I’ll be partnering up with a fellow designer to produce the show.
